PRIMARY SUPERVISOR: Project Manager

DEPARTMENT: Field

SUPERVISES: None

STATUS: Full Time/ Non-Exempt

SALARY RANGE:  Beginning salary will be commensurate with education and experience based on appropriate industry standards.   

  POSITION DESCRIPTION:  The Construction Driver would primarily be responsible for driving a company vehicle to various suppliers, loading, transporting, and unloading jobsite materials. In addition, the applicant would work to clean jobsites, load refuse, and transport it to the dump/recycling facility.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Good driving record and a valid driver license.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Basic knowledge of and ability to hand tools and equipment in a safe manner
  • Ability to lift and carry construction materials.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, etc.
  • Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position
  • Have the ability to work as a team.
  • Punctuality, fellowship, and cleanliness.
  • Must be able to perform the above for at least 8 hours per day 5 days per week. 
  • May be required to work over-time; after hours; on weekends, for emergencies or on-call

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

All of the responsibilities listed below are considered essential functions of this position. Additionally, this position is expected to ensure that the core operating values and the strategic direction of the company are adhered to.

  • Operate company commercial vehicles and delivering building materials to and residential construction sites in a safe and timely manner. 
  • Deliver different commodities to construction sites.
  • Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.
  • Cleans job sites of construction waste
  • Loading and unloading materials and removing hazards
  • Assist with assembling and disassembling scaffolding and other temporary structures.
  • Perform general construction labor tasks – e.g., site cleaning, assist other members of the crew.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

  • Duties outlined in this position will require the employee to stand, crouch, sit, bend, use hands and fingers to handle or feel as well as reaching with hands and arms to spaces both high and low. The employee will be standing, walking, climbing, balancing, crawling, crouching, lifting, holding, or stooping while on shift. 
  • Ability to work while wearing safety boots, safety glasses and hardhat
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions which can include but is not limited to: extreme heat and cold temperatures; inclement weather such as wind, rain, and dust as well as adverse driving conditions including wet roads, and fog.
  • Employees in this job classification may be exposed to dust, fumes, or other airborne pathogens. 
  • Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs. regularly and up to 100 LBS as needed with or without assistance

  POSITION DESCRIPTION: Under the supervision of the Project Manager and/or Civil Foreman, the Laborer/Driver is responsible for performing various tasks to aid daily operations at a construction site. The duties and responsibilities of a laborer are all geared toward maintaining a clean, safe and efficient construction site while also supporting the overall project

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Valid CA Driver License (CDL Class A preferred)
  • Knowledge of the proper operation of hand tools.
  • Some experience in cutting and assembly.
  • Experience operating heavy machinery and preparing job sites for construction.
  • Have the ability to work as a team.
  • Punctuality, fellowship, and cleanliness.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

All of the responsibilities listed below are considered essential functions of this position. Additionally, this position is expected to ensure that the core operating values and the strategic direction of the company are adhered to.

  • Drive trucks with trailers, including daily safety inspection before and after operating.
  • Cleaning and preparing construction sites.
  • Loading and unloading materials and equipment.
  • Building and taking down scaffolding and temporary structures.
  • Digging trenches, compacting earth and backfilling holes.
  • Operating and tending machinery and heavy equipment.
  • Following instructions from supervisors and implementing construction plans.
  • Assisting skilled tradespeople in their duties.
  • Provide labor support as needed for specialty crew
  • Effectively using heavy and light equipment, depending on the jobsite/assignment
  • Moving items from place to place, according to direction from the site supervisor
  • Moving dirt or other material as directed in plans or by supervisor
  • Climb to heights and conduct work with proper safety restraints
  • Perform setup and cleanup tasks at job site
  • Direct traffic when necessary to ensure safety of pedestrians, motorists and work crew
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Must be able to access all levels of a construction site/building/structure, traverse uneven terrain, climb a ladder, and enter and exit from vehicles. 
  • Manually operates all department vehicles, tools, and equipment.
